Nuestro método de enseñanza de la lengua inglesa se caracteriza por:

Poner énfasis en la comunicación oral en inglés a través de la interacción de los alumnos con su propia realidad cotidiana.
Introducir textos reales en la situación de aprendizaje.
Ofrecer a los alumnos oportunidades para pensar en el proceso de aprendizaje y no sólo en la lengua.
Integrar las experiencias personales de los alumnos como elementos que contribuyen al aprendizaje significativo en el aula.
Relacionar la lengua que se aprende en el aula con actividades realizadas fuera de ella.

Estas cinco características fundamentan el método comunicativo por el que nuestros alumnos alcanzan un alto nivel de rendimiento en su competencia comunicativa, demostrado no solo en contextos de habla inglesa sino también en los diferentes exámenes británicos (University Cambridge, Trinity Collage) a los que deben presentarse desde 2º de Educación Primaria hasta 2º de Bachillerato.

El aprendizaje del idioma se inicia a los 3 años. Desde 1º de Educación Infantil hasta 2º de Educación Primaria, la mitad de la jornada se imparte en inglés y la otra mitad, en castellano. Además de lengua inglesa, las asignaturas que completan nuestro programa bilingüe son “arts and crafts”, “science”, “drama”. En el segundo y tercer ciclo de Ed. Primaria casi el cuarenta por ciento del horario escolar se dedica a estas áreas. En Educación Secundaria, las clases diarias se complementan con dos sesiones semanales de conversación.

ENGLISH

Our English language teaching method is characterised by:

1. Emphasising oral communication in English through the interaction of the students with everyday real-life situations.
2. Introducing authentic texts in learning situations.
3. Offering students the opportunity to think about the learning process and not only about the language itself.
4. Integrating the students´ personal experiences as essential elements that contribute to significant learning in the classroom.
5. Enhancing the language that is learnt in the classroom with activities outside the classroom.
These five characteristics lay the foundation for the communicative method through which our students reach a high level of achievement in their language competencies demonstrating, not only in an English speaking context, but also through the different official compulsory British exams (Cambridge University, Trinity College) from 2nd level primary through 2º level baccalaureate.

The language learning process begins at age 3. From 1st level kindergarten up to 2º level primary half of the school day is carried out in English and the other half in Spanish. In addition to English language, the subjects that make up our bilingual programme are “art and crafts”, “science”, “grammar” and “computer studies”. During the second and third cycle of primary education almost forty percent of class time is dedicated to these areas. During secondary education, the daily classes are enhanced by two weekly sessions of conversation.
